The first thing that's needs to be done when putting VCD or SVCD to
DVD is to make just one big file.
VCD
and SVCD come on two CD's or more, this is because the amount of data
that can be stored on one CD is only 74,80mins on VCD or 50mins SVCD
and most films are much longer. What you will have to do is merge both
parts of the film. There are many programs to do this but I use tmpeg
as the tool works quite well.
Step 1
Put your film
into your CD drive and don't let it load up. Explore the CD if you are
doing a VCD look in the mvpeg folder for the film data it will be a
avidata file, or if you are doing a SVCD you will see a mpeg folder,
and in there it will be a mpeg file. Copy the file to you PC hard drive,
it will take a few minutes to do, OK now you have the first part on
your PC. Put it into a folder and call it part 1 so you know what part
of the film you have, do the same on the second part.
Step
2: Merging
Now you
have both parts of the film you will have to merge them together. Open
up tmpeg go to the tool section select merge add the first part of the
film, then the second part you should see both, now select some place
on your PC where it is go to be outputted (desktop is where I normally
do it).
OK now hit run this will take some time to do.
Step
3: Changing the Sound
The sound
frequency of the sound is wrong so its has to be changed from 41000
Hz to 48000 Hz, to do this you must now split the sound from the picture,
so you will have to use tmpeg tools again.
Now go to the tool section and select simple de-multiplex select the
output for the files and run, it now you should have the video and sound
separated.
Step 4: Encoding the Sound
Now we have to encode the sound in tempge select start but at the bottom
of the screen, make sure the audio is only selected go to setting on
audio and change them to 48000 and birate 224 and press OK.
Now press start and let it encode this will take a while, when finished
you will have a new sound file.
Now we have to merge the video and new sound file together, to do this
you will need to use tools again and go to simple multiplex, just select
the video file and the new sound file and select a output and run it,
this will take some time, at the end of this process you will have a
new mpeg file.
Step 5: Patching
You will
need to patch the file now because the authorized program won't let
you use it, so you need to use a program called DVD patcher. This is
easy to use just browsers the file and patch it, this takes seconds.
OK now you can use the authorized program to make a DVD, this is the
same process for divx.
